Assignment:
Speaking and Listening - Application Assignment - Module 7 As discussed, oral language is the foundation for both reading and writing. How do we ensure that we are intentionally helping our students learn to value being able to speak well? How do we intentionally embed speaking and listening into our daily lessons? This activity provides you with the opportunity to think purposefully include them in your instruction. Reflect on three Kindergarten lessons you have recently taught or will be teaching. Identify how you could embed intentional speaking and listening skills into each lesson.
Use different structures and purposes;
1. Lesson outcome (does not have to be standard) - What will students be able to do by the end of the lesson?
2. Speaking structure - pairs, small group, whole group discussion, reciprocal teaching, literature circle, Socratic Seminar or Circle
3. What is the criteria for the grouping? (ability, interest, random, etc)
4. Speaking guidelines/rubric or the group
