According to Vought (2017), transformational leaders' effectiveness is based on providing idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. In our current organizational challenges, especially in my current organization, I think this study is very relevant. My focus is on leadership, specifically transformational leadership, and its effect on individuals' job satisfaction and job performance when working virtually, an area in which more research is needed. Over past year alone, there has been an increase in organizations allowing employees to work at home or a location outside of the main facility. Therefore, this research will grow in months and years to come.
- The nature of my quantitative study will examine the relationship between leadership, specifically transformational leadership style (independent variable), and its effects on individuals who work virtually regarding job performance and job satisfaction (dependent variables). So far, only have the below questions related to my research topic. These questions were actual inspired by the telework agreement that we are required to fill out prior to being authorized to work from home. Prior to Covid-19 my organization allowed all of the workforce to telework from home for a maximum of four days per week, and the telework authorization had to be renewed every two years. All feedback is welcomed.
Question 1: To what extent does job satisfaction resolve the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance of virtual workers?
Question 2: How do virtual team members' perceptions of transformational leadership behaviors affect virtual team members' levels of interpersonal trust and organizational commitment?
Question 3: To what extent does job satisfaction mediate the relationship between idealized behaviors and job performance of virtual workers?
Question 4: Is there a relationship between the transformational leadership behavior and the job satisfaction of virtual team members who report to the leader?
