Team Project Instructions:
In a group of 3 to 4 students, assigned by your professor, select two startup companies operating for the last three years.
Interview the founder/co-founder of the startups and highlight their financial decision-making process. Some of the questions that you might be interested to explore are:
Question 1. How do startups get investments?
a. How do they raise capital to finance their investments? Search for their story.
Question 2. How do the investments create value for the organization? a. Interlink their investment decision with the growth of the organization.
Question 3. Describe how they make investment decisions.
a. What are the investment criteria they are using?
b. Highlight the financial tools which can be used to make the decision.
Question 4. Identify appropriate risk and uncertainty measures in the investment decision process.
a. Describe the startup's perspective on this.
Question 5. What are the financial tools startups are using to measure their performance?
In addition to your 8-10-page Team Report, You and your team will present your project to your class as a group. You may utilize PowerPoint, Prezi, or any other presentation tool to assist you with communicating project components. The presentation will consist of your background, major findings, analysis, and recommendations in a concise presentation of 15 slides (minimum - does not include the title, reference, and questions slides). To receive a grade for this part of the project, each student must have an opportunity to present one or more components of the project. Apart from presenting project components, you must include a brief reflection of how this project contributed to your increased understanding of the project focus and of your own teamwork and communication skills - be specific.
