Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to introduce students to virtual groups and how these can be used to resolve difficult issues and, in the process, understanding the challenges for leadership in dealing with virtual group processes.

The COVID-19 pandemic challenges many in leadership positions in terms of how this influence and power are exercised. The impact currently on all organisations is substantial. How will leaders react to these challenges both now and during the recovery phase?

Challenge:

Much has been written and researched regarding Emotional Intelligence. Behavioural characteristics associated with this categorisation of intelligence are broad and equally well-defined.

The spread of COVID-19 globally and therefore the drastic Impact on organisational processes, outcomes and people, means that many of these behavioral traits will need to be evidenced in practice. Leaders do not necessarily portray all these characteristics. How do leaders deal with what may be a skills gap?
