- Social media (from both a communication perspective and an evidence source perspective)
- Digital evidence management (e.g., how to protect, introduce, or find)
- A technology of your choosing (Note: You must have this choice approved by your Instructor.)
2. Find 5 to 7 academically appropriate sources to support your response.
3. Your presentation should cover the following:
a. Identify the new technology of your focus and explain how it works in general terms.
b. Explain how the new technology works in, or is adapted for, law enforcement practice.
c. Explain how the new technology is affecting current law enforcement practice.
d. Evaluate the expectations of and reactions from citizens to the use of this technology.

- Why might citizen expectations be unreasonable?
- Do citizens understand the legal implications?
e. How do the issues of constitutional rights, public perception, and public safety contribute to the long-term viability of a new technology?
f. Explain how new technology can increase transparency and citizen trust in law enforcement.
g. Explain how new technology can erode trust in law enforcement.
h. How does new technology complicate or clarify your perception of the balance between public trust and public safety?
i. Predict how this technology will affect law enforcement practice in the future.
4. Support your responses with evidence from the academically appropriate sources you find. Include references for your sources on the last slide, which does not count toward the 12 to 17 slide requirement.
