Hi! I'm in 8th grade and don't understand my homework. The question is; "Relative to 0 degrees C, the amount of thermal energy in a quantity of water is its mass x temperature x specific heat. The specific heat of water is 4184 joules per kilogram per degree Celsius." The question part comes here. "How much thermal energy is in 100 grams of water at 50 degrees C." I don't understand how to calculate the specific heat, and what would the equation to solve for the thermal energy look like? Would I convert 100 grams to kilograms, and how do i solve for thermal energy? I'm very, confused, thank you!
