Question - Describe how "politics of identity and the liberation ideologies that relate to racism, sexism, sexual orientation, and indigenism. Liberationist groups have fought for freedom from both external constraints (e.g., discriminatory laws) and internal constraints (e.g., negative self-perceptions, internalization of a dominant group's view of them). Accordingly, these types of ideologies seek to identify, criticize, and transform the external and internal constraints beginning with an understanding of a group identity. But clearly, such groups are not homogenous which raises the question: how do groups work against discrimination of group members and make claims on behalf of the group without limiting the diversity within the group.
