I don't know how to handle this Communications question and need guidance.
The Coronavirus is a perfect Crisis Communication example. Imagine that you are the Communications Director working for the Diamond Princess. You are responsible for coordinating information for the media for the evacuation of the U.S. citizens on board the Cruise line Diamond Princess that has 355 cases of Coronavirus on board. The cruise ship has been docked at Yokohama, a Japanese port city, for more than a week under quarantine. Passengers who have tested positive for the virus have been evacuated to area hospitals.
Review articles about the quarantine and the evacuation of the U.S. citizens, pull together statistics and information that you will need, and answer the following questions:
1. Where did the Coronavirus first surface? How do doctors think the first patients became infected?
2. What did China do to prevent the spread of the virus? How many passengers and crew were on the ship? How many were infected? How many from the ship have died? What happened to the passengers and staff who tested positive for the virus?
3. How long had the passengers been quarantined on the ship? Were they allowed to leave their cabins? How were the U.S. citizens evacuated? What happened to U.S. citizens who tested positive for the virus but were not yet showing symptoms? Were U.S. passengers allowed to stay behind or was it a mandatory evacuation?
4. As the Communications Director for the Diamond Princess: What are the three messages you want to convey to the media about the U.S. passengers being evacuated?
5. What are the three messages that you want to convey to those passengers who will remain quarantined on the ship?
6. What are the three messages that you want to convey to travelers who vacation on cruise ships about the Diamond Princess cruise ship?
7. What is the one recommendation that you would make to the owners of the Diamond Princess before they decide to begin booking passengers for another voyage?
