Your HR Director (HRD) has informed you that the level of competition in your industry is forcing the organisation based in UK to consider merging with another company in France, in order to gain a competitive advantage in the global business environment.

The CEO recognises that the company faces difficulties in transferring their policies and practices across to the company they will be merging with. She has tasked each Director to provide a report which details some of these challenges, opportunities and threats.

1. To write a report that shows evidence of wide reading/research about how different institutions in the UK and France impact the human resource management policies and practices of organisations.

2. To provide a critical analysis of some of the challenges, opportunities, and threats of merging the two companies' employment relations policies, practices and/or approaches together across the two companies in UK and France.

3. How Diversity and indulgence different between the UK and France? How this impact the HR policies and practices.

4. Did Brexit has change the EU legislation between UK and France? How does this impact HR practices and policies?

5. What is the differences between UK and France in terms of working time regulations, employment tribunal systems, power distance, and employee voice, working conditions, and Maternity/paternity - family friendly policies? How it will impact the HR practices and policies.

5. Consideration of varieties of capitalism, convergence and internationalisations between UK and France?

6. Critiques about Hofstede versus Globe study?

7. To conclude with a selection of recommendations in respect to your findings, in addition to a summary as to whether these policies, practices and/or approaches can actually be merged, to create a best practice approach across both countries, or, in fact whether a best fit approach would be more beneficial.
