Assignment: comparing inequality

Using the data on the next page, compare patterns of income, and income inequality between the United States and two (2) other countries. Your comparison should have the following elements:

a. An analysis of how different groups (the poor, middle class, and upper class) have fared over the last three decades.

b. An analysis of the relationship between groups that uses income ratios as a way to measure inequality.

c. both (a) and (b) should be discussed in relationship to all three countries that you are looking at. For example, you could discuss the changing fortunes of the poor by looking at how their average incomes have changed in the U.S. over the last thirty years, and how that compares to how the average incomes of the poor in, say, Finland, have changed over the last thirty years.
