Assignment:
The mission statement process is talking about this assignment :
Part A:
Write the Name of Jesus, in the New Testament that you have been encouraged by as you plan to serve someone (look to Part C of this Final Mission Step 7). Type write something like that how this Name of Jesus, in the New Testament, connects with the Name of God, in the Old Testament, that you have discovered in our class and how they relate. Give an example of a story of someone, in both the Old and New Testament, that relates to the names you have chosen from the OT and NT. This Part A must be one / two page in length.
Part B: Only One or two page needed and an explanation of your presentation. This is worth 50 points; it is your mission statement.
Now that you have completed these first 6 steps of the Mission Statement:
- Your lists of hero's and character traits that are similar
- Your list of scripture that you connect with these traits
- Your list of traits of 50th bday
- Your favorite Scripture
Myers/Briggs short test and Enneagram test - just to give you tools to know yourself better.
Your solitude time and prayer over this AND Your paragraph.
Now you are ready to condense Step 6 (the paragraph) into 1-2 statements. SO, look at the paragraph that you came up with from Step 6 and compile this and write One or two sentences that incapsulate your paragraph - this is your Mission Statement. Note: Your statement will change as you walk out your walk in the Lord in your life, but for now with all that you know, these lists, and your paragraph, write out your statement that calls your heart, mind and soul to your own following of Christ - including how this would look in both job and home.
Compose your Mission Statement and also your Lifetime verse and then write out a description of the manner in which you will demonstrate your Mission Statement (this writing out the description can be as simple as: a picture, a song, poetry, or whatever, in any creative manner. (You will be sharing this in your online class. This will be your presentation. This creative part will NOT be turned in with this step - just the explanation will be here. The creative part will be shared.
So, Part B is 1-2 statements and your lifetime scripture verse and the explanation of the way in which you will demonstrate it in class, this is called your presentation.
Seems daunting and impossible but you can Take this action..
Now last but not least.
Part C - Roman 12 Project:
The student must read Romans 12:1-21 ten times and write One page on what it means to overcome evil with good when dealing with personal enemies (or if the student doesn't consider anyone an enemy- then the student must choose someone whom they have a difficult time with in their life) particularly as it applies to an "enemy" in their life. Then the student must live out the command of Rom.12: 20 by finding a significant and meaningful way to bless that person and do so as an act of worship to the Lord (obviously for some you must be following common sense guidelines for personal safety.)
Pray and ask the Lord to show you who you are to serve in this next section.
You must serve that person once over these next 1 days, (Not 1 times - just once), and the way in which you serve needs to be through the lens of who you are and your Mission Statement. Then you must write something like that about the experience in 1 - two paragraphs.
Answer the following reflection questions (typed)
- How did you like this Mission Statement Process?
- What did you discover about yourself as an Image Bearer?
- What did you discover about the Lord?
