Original Post: Domestic containment (Ritter, 2009) focused on happy American home, where the bread winner is the father of the family, mother is a house wife and children are obedient to the family.

Generally the families are more stable with such an arrangement. Domestic containment during the times after the Second World War is considered to be a strategy to fight with communism in United States of America.

Domestic containment is also the way in which the government of United States identified itself during that time. United States commitment to the domestic containment and subsequent internal and foreign policies evolved to promote such a culture, which actually shaped cold war.

However by 1960's youth rebellion taken over in United States and it started altogether to promote a different type of vision and comprehension of the social, cultural and economic condition of the state by the neo-adults of the country. The baby boom generation began to challenge the status quo.

They started questioning radically the moral and spiritual health of the nation in general. Hippies and unconventional social traits and practices evolved during this time. All this actually stopped the prevalent domestic containment images of United state government philosophy and the new generation did not embrace the concept anymore. Ritter, G. (2009).
