Problem

Interpret the methods section of Stodolska et al. (2019). Please be aware that I, like all of you, already read this paper. So we all know what the paper says in the methods section. Please explain your responses. Understanding research methods is a bit tricky at first, but it is super-important to understand how data is collected. The methods in this paper are similar to the methods in much of our readings this semester, and very common in gang research generally. So don't be discouraged. Learning is a process, and I am interested to hear (read) everyone's thoughts about this! So here goes:

Question I. What do you think the authors mean by "in-depth," "semi-structured," and "individual" interviews? HOW do you think those characteristics helped (or hindered) the authors in answering their research questions?

Question II. How many, and what classification(s) of people did they interview? In other words, what was their criteria for inclusion? ALSO: who were excluded from the study, and WHY do you think that was?

Question III. How did the authors find the people they interviewed? And WHY do you think anyone would agree to an interview like this with someone they did not even know?
