The 3 successors to Rome (Byzantine Empire, Arab Empire, and Kingdoms/Holy Roman Empire of Europe) were all unique, but one thing that they had in common was the importance of religion to all 3 groups. How did the 3 successors to Rome develop their various religions (Islam, Greek Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholic Christianity), and how did these religions interact with their people, states/governments and other cultures? Address both the positive and negative impacts of religion on their own people and how their attitudes towards other people/religions were shaped and acted upon.
