Intercultural Communication Experience
The aim of this assailment is to examine the characteristics of how culture is enacted upon environments and influences norms. The assignment involves taking a participant-observer role in the culture that you have selected (as much as this is possible).
The paper has three parts
1. The first part of the paper includes a description of the cultural norms of your base culture. This includes the physical environment and all sense data. (i.e. Sights, sounds, smells...). Include the length of time that you have identified with this cultural group and your degree of acculturation. This part of the paper should be written before the intercultural excursion.
2. The second part of the paper includes a description of the perceived context of the cultural observation. Again use sense data to give a description of the experience. Which culture are you experiencing? How long did this experience last? What feelings and thoughts are you aware of? What, if any problems are evident?
3. The third part of the paper should include an analysis of the differences between the pre-existing and actual perceptions. To what point, if any did your preexisting perceptions influence your interactions? Thinking back on the experience what is most difficult to define and/or describe.
