1. Hall (1993) examined the {introduce the author of the article, (title of the article can be included or left out) and in your own words explain what the purpose of the article is}
2. Examine the Abstract: How informative is it. Does the abstract describe clearly the purpose of the study, how the study was carried out and results obtained from the study?
3. Examine the introduction: Does it provide adequate background information along with acknowledgement of others work in the field of sustaianble tourism. Does the introduction provide clear justifications for the research. Does it exaplin clealry the aims for the research.
4. Methodology Section. Are the methods used in the article are excellently explained and evaluated with regard to their appropriateness. Does the author explain the method and tools used in the study. (how was the study done)
Does the author comment on the response rate for the study and reasons for non-participation. (this would be required if for example, the method included sending out a questionnaire- how many questionnaires were sent out, how many were answered)
If it's qualitative: how many people were interviewed? Do you consider them the best in terms of providing information that is required to address the study's research questions?)
Do you consider the method the most appropriate one? Why? Could the study have been performed using a different method?
5. The result section - Adequacy of the results: Is it clear how the results were obtained? Are the results presented in a coherent and easy to understand manner. How are the results presented? What are the major results regarding for example sustainable tourism development or sustainable tourism marketing, or ethical tourism marketing, etc.?
Are the limitations and further research suggestions clear?
6. The conclusion - Are the conclusions sufficient? Does the author draw conclusions from the findings obtained in the study. What are the major conclusions?
7. Personal Reflection - What is your personal judgment of the study. Do you find it for example, convincing? Do you consider the study's treatment of the issues investigated adequate, meaningful, mature, useful etc? Can you, or a hotel manager, for example, benefit from reading the article? Can vilalgers interested in developing sustable forms of tourism find the article useful? Can government and policy makers find the article/study/ book/ useful? (Theory-practice implications).
References - What is the reference style displayed in this paper (eg Vancouver style of referencing; Chicago; APA; Harvard). Adequacy of references used. Variety of references. Are the references relevant, up to date and used appropriately in the text?).
