TASK
Having begun to study Australian Identity and viewed two films, you must now choose a character from one of the films and describe how he/she portrays Australian Identity.
STEPS
1. Watch the set films, observing how characters represent certain versions of Australian Identity, or go against them.
2. Choose one major character who you clearly recognise as a certain kind of Australian.
3. Describe this character using as many adjectives as possible - how could you sum them up in just one sentence?
4. Put this sentence - which is the start of your ‘thesis' - into the top of part 1 of the essay scaffold sheet.
5. Finish filling out part 1 of the scaffold by:
o identifying three main traits of your chosen character which show the type of Australian he/she is
o listing two sets of evidence per trait, i.e. moments and scenes in the film in which your character behaves/speaks (or is spoken about or treated) in a way which clearly supports your description of the type of Australian he/she is
6. Use the scaffold provided, as well as the example essay.
