Application and Education. We have been hired by the leadership of a hospital to make a presentation to the hospital staff about responding to adverse events with transparency. Unfortunately, the hospital staff is not receptive to the idea. The medical staff is angry at the increased push for transparency in general and feel that admitting errors will result in more lawsuits. The hospital lawyers also are ambivalent about the idea of transparency when it comes to errors.
