Case Overview
Theatrical Design is a collaborative process. They work with the director in design meetings and throughout the process to help create the story. Designers consider several things such as personal taste, time period, budget, time period the play takes place, and what will be practical for the build and craft. For example, having real props such as food that are not consumed is not practical, so fake food is designed. Also, the show is under strict deadlines, and there may not be the time and labor to complete all the items prior to opening night - things need to be adjusted.
After reviewing the chapters, learning modules, and brief videos on the designer process, choose one occupation in the area of design to discuss.
