Human evolutionary changes have a crucial relationship with the changing material and non material culture of the society. The Enlightenment had seen a revolutionary upgrade in the non material culture and the Industrial Revolution gave rise to mostly the material culture changes, although non material changes came as a byproduct of it. We have been seeing tremendous advancement in technology since then but minute disputed biological changes in the human race.

The technological advancements are all being made to make life more comfortable, luxurious, technology-reliant and easier, but this has its own implications. We are seeing technologically driven changes to our biological makeup which is rather detrimental to human evolution. For example, humans tending to be more obese, prone to inherent diabetic conditions and heart diseases have been related to too much reliance on technology which has made the human body and mind lax and hesitant to involve in activities. The mind is also seeing a reverse evolution as humans are seeing lesser memory span than even a goldfish according to some reports. This is due to the over-reliance on a search engine for everything, smartphones, and technology for doing everything, including reminding the person of memories. The area of the brain that controls the thumb occupies the largest area in the brain as humans are most involved in swiping the phone screens with their thumbs than any other activities. Stress and hypertension conditions are rising with the dependence on online social networking for self-perception and friendship. Technology and biological human evolution is dependent but it is increasingly proving to be detrimental.
