Computer, E-Mail and Internet Usage
Computer, e-mail and internet systems provided to employees are the property of Initech and are intended for business use. All files, documents and other information transmitted or received through Initech e-mail or internet systems and information created or stored on Initech computers are considered Initech property and are subject to monitoring and disclosure to law enforcement or other parties. Improper, illegal or unauthorized use of Initech computer, e-mail or internet systems may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Authorized employees are assigned user identification codes and passwords in order to safeguard Initech information systems and confidential information. Employees may not share assigned passwords, access confidential information or allow others to access confidential information without proper authorization. Employees are expected to obtain proper authorization and use reasonable care to insure the security of Initech computer information systems when downloading or uploading information or installing software programs. All software installed on Initech systems must be properly licensed and authorized by the appropriate supervisors.
In addition to programs developed by the Initech, the Initech purchases and licenses the use of various computer software for business purposes. The Initech does not own the copyright to this software or its related documentation. Unless authorized by the software developer, the Initech does not have the right to reproduce such software for use on more than one computer. Employees may only use software on local area networks or on multiple machines according to the software license agreement. Illegal duplication of software and its related documentation for personal use is prohibited.
Computers, Internet access and e-mail are provided primarily for work related activities. However, supervisors may authorize limited personal use within the guidelines established by this policy provided that such use does not result in an unauthorized expense to the Initech or significantly interfere with Initech business operations, employee work performance, or availability of Initech equipment, information systems, or other resources for business use. Use of Initech internet or e-mail systems to compose, transmit, access, or receive materials or images with content which is illegal, unethical or inappropriate or which may be considered discriminatory, offensive, obscene, threatening, harassing, intimidating, or disruptive to another person or group is strictly prohibited.
