Extension of the Standard Fish activity:
a. Each team member should
i. Review images of fish that class-mates drew in class (see class activity).
As you see, we have a wide variety of fish but no consistency (i.e. the customer might not be happy with the wide variation) so our next step is to try to 'make' a standard fish (no matter who draws it)
ii. Use the grid paper and follow the 10 steps to draw a standard fish (hard copy of the grid is on page 40 in the hands-out packet).
iii. Upload your standard fish to the team's google drive (in folder for assignment #1 - keep your files organized; ideally you should have a
sub-folder for the fish activity)
b. As a team: Suggest improvements to the Standard Work to draw a fish (how can you improve the 10 steps procedure). Write a new/improved procedure. All team members are expected to collaborate writing answers to the questions below.
Use the group's designated google folder and include a project plan and/or log that clearly state who was the lead author and who edited each section of the document.
• Think about waste, e.g. is there any motion waste?
• Possibly re-sequencing the steps so the pen or pencil never leaves the paper?
• Possibly add definition to the size of the fins, tail, etc.?
