Policy Analysis Exercise
Target Country: Kenya
Instructions:
There are various approaches to explaining rapid economic development in the Asian Pacific Rim (APR). Make your own assessments of the development process in the APR as a region and suggest an appropriate economic model for the region. Your model should highlight the factors which you believe best explain rapid economic development in the Asian Pacific Rim. You are to use facts and statistics gathered through independent research to strengthen and support your arguments.
APR model developed earlier in this paper. Listed below are general guidelines to help you formulate your assessment.
1. Briefly describe the developing country to which the APR model/strategy is to be transferred. You may include economic performance, geographical location, literacy rate, GDP, GDP per capita, GDP growth rate, nature of goods produced, major exports/ imports, type of government, culture, history, etc.
2. Evaluate the ease/difficulty of the transfer process, indicating and explaining fully which portions of the APR model are readily transferable and which parts are more difficult, if not impossible to transfer.
3. How can the missing elements in your target developing country be addressed? Suggest modifications in the original model and compensatory actions that can be taken to address the missing elements.
4. What limitations do you foresee in the transfer process?
