Employees in social media marketing are particularly susceptible to distraction at work. Because computers and other electronic devices are the lifeblood of any employees in social media marketing, they must have computers/ other electronic devices access to online information. Thus, it is not possible to eliminate the distractions of web surfing, playing online games, sending personal emails, shopping online, or engaging in any other types of online entertainment when employees are logged on in order to do their world. Another aspect of this particular control issue is that social media marketing employees may not even be on-site. Many social media marketing employees are virtual employees, located across town or maybe even located 100 miles from the company. Their only contact with their manager and the company is via Zoom. There is no opportunity for managing by walking around. The manager can't pop his or her head in the door at any time to see how things are going.
