1: Do Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation make employees preform in different ways? In the Motivation chapter it says extrinsic motivation is motivation in order to achieve a desired outcome such as a bonus at work, a promotion, or to get the approval from higher ups or friends and family. On the other hand, intrinsic motivation is when people do things simply for their own enjoyment, there is no underlying rewards that they are looking to achieve. Does one type of motivation make employees work better than the other or are they the same?
2: How can managers be motivated? The book states how managers can use various motivation theories to understand employee motivation and then implement certain strategies to help motivate their employees further, but managers also need to be motivated to perform in the company's best interest and in the interest of the employees. Can these motivation theories be extended to help managers become more motivated? Are there different techniques to motivate managers?
