Assignment:
How can I expand on the psychmetric validity tools selected for each variable?
Work-environment
The working conditions employees are subjected to on a regular basis (Xin, 2022). For this study's purposes, we will focus on the supervisor's support, work-life balance, and job control aspects of the environment.
Supervisor Support
Employees report feeling supported by their supervisor, when they feel their supervisor cares for them and assists them with the workload (Low, et al., 2022). The instrument to be used will be the Perceived Supervisor Support Scale (PSSS). This scale measures the extent to which employees believe that their supervisors value their contributions and care about their well-being. Perceived supervisor support is measured using a three-item scale with all items rated using seven-point Likert scales (ranging from 1 = "strongly disagree" to 7 = "strongly agree"). Examples of these items include, my supervisor expresses interest in my well-being. To ensure validity the exploratory factor analysis will examine the underlying structure of the measures and confirm that they align with the theoretical constructs of burnout and other work-environment factors in this study.
Work-life balance
It refers to the division between work and family responsibilities and the feeling of accomplishment in perfectly balancing the two (Chambel, et al., 2020). The instrument to be used is the Work-Life Balance Scale (WLBS). This scale evaluates individuals' effectiveness in balancing work and personal life using a 5-point Linkert scale ranging from 1=strongly disagree to 5=strongly agree. It touches on satisfaction and effectiveness in managing work and non-work roles using items such as, "I currently have a good balance between the time I spend at work and the time I have available for non-work related activities." To test the validity of these constructs the psychometric tool to be used will be predictive validity: which shall evaluate whether the supervisor support, and job control measures can predict future outcomes related to burnout and work-environment factors.
Job control
Feeling engaged in the decision-making process about the responsibilities of the job responsible for (Hameed, et al., 2022). The instrument to be used is the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ). JCQ is designed to measure social and psychological characteristics of jobs. One of its components measures decision latitude or job control, which is the combination of using skills and having decision-making authority[PM1] .Validity will be ensured through construct validity. Convergent Validity will ideally demonstrate that the variable of burnout and the work-environment factors of job control or decision making authority, correlates with other measures that theoretically should be related. For example, that supervisor support is positively correlated with job satisfaction.
Study Procedures
The data for this study will be collected by combining the following instruments in the form of a questionnaire in a manner unique to this researcher. The collection of these instruments will be administered as a questionnaire to include the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) as well as the Perceived Supervisor Support [ZZ2] Scale (PSSS) and Work-Life Balance Scale (WLBS). As far as to measure the job control variable, the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ) will be included. Access to the questionnaire will be available in different social media platforms strategically targeting clinical and non clinical staff who are currently working in the healthcare field. The data will be collected for a period of 30 days. The combined data collected from all these instruments will then be analyzed to measure the strength of the relationship between the work-environment factors, perceived supervisor support, job control and work-life balance with the likelihood of healthcare workers experiencing burnout.
[PM1]For each scale you use you need to provide psychometric validity stats...for ex Acc to authors JCQ has excellent reliability for each subscale (provide the numbers)and test and re-test reliability (numbers)
[ZZ2]I encourage you to refer to this as a single thing that you "develop." These are existing separate instruments and I would refer to them as a collection of instruments or something like this.
Provide a great deal more detail about your plan.
