Question: How can a Linux distro increase its user base?

Building on our discussion from before let's talk about some individual distributions...If you ask someone what are some of the different types of Linux, odds are they are going to say "Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint". But there are so many more out there (remember distrowatch?) How can developers get more exposure to their distribution? What can be done to give them more exposure and/or to get more exposure to the mass markets? Can they partner with some hardware manufactures to get their OS out there more?
