In the Feed Water Circuit of the Power Plant, in one of the HP heater, leaky gasket was to be replaced. The concerned employee responsible for maintaining was asked to replace the gasket with specified metallic gasket. He listened, read the instructions for doing the same and did his job. When asked specifically whether he had used the required quality of gasket, he said that everything was in order. However, the concerned Engineer got suspicious, as the time taken for the job was very less as compared to the normal time. On inspection, it was revealed that the required metallic gasket was not used and job had to be done again. This caused loss of production. Did the maintainer know how important was his job? Did he and his engineer discuss on gasket details? Discuss the gaps in team functioning of the maintainer as a team member and the engineer as a team leader.

How can a good team of Engineer and Maintainer be formed? Discuss in the context of the team leaders and team member's role for high team performance?
