Part 1: Learning activity plan - 400 words
Develop a learning activity plan using the Assignment: Learning activity plan template, which includes the following sections:
• a descriptive activity title
• age group
• description of a practical language or literacy activity you could use in the early childhood setting to support the child/children's oral language development in the Australian context (approx. 200 words):
o How are you going to introduce the activity?
o What are you doing during the activity to involve the child/children and support their learning?
o How are you going to conclude the activity?
• identify and describe relevant components of language and literacy that are the focus of your learning activity plan (approx. 100 words)
• resources/props which would be used for the activity (you can include images if you wish) (50 words)
• how the plan relates to the EYLF (approx. 50 words). The descriptor for the EYLF will not be counted in the word count for this section
• reference list (not included in the word count).
Note: in learning activity plans you do not need to include an introduction or conclusion, and you may use bullet points and images.
Part 2: Oral presentation
Record your oral presentation relating to your learning activity plan and include the following:
• An introduction to your presentation (what you will speak about i.e. your learning plan, the title and age group, etc.).
• Describe the key concepts you have selected for the learning activity plan and how they are intended to be taught and learned in your planned learning activity.
• Briefly explain your choices for the decisions made in plain language, free of jargon.
• Provide a conclusion that sums up your presentation.
Consider the needs of your audience as you plan and deliver your oral presentation. Remember that your intended audience is a child's parent, so your presentation should be pitched at that level-not overly academic, but not overly simplified.
