Case Study: This week we are focusing on Matthew 5:1-12 and more specifically what is referred to as the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are a set of teachings which are considered to be a central part of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. In these teachings, Jesus outlines a series of blessings, each beginning with the word "Blessed," which describe the qualities and attitudes that are valued in the kingdom of God. They emphasize virtues such as humility, meekness, mercy, purity of heart, and peacemaking. The Beatitudes also convey the idea that those who exhibit these qualities will ultimately find happiness and spiritual fulfillment.?
Another important aspect to consider is how we "live out" these qualities within our speres of influence. At the core is Christ, then those who already following him and those who are still considering. This mirrors GCU's mission of being Christ centered.?
Questions: As you seek to apply this concept and consider the following -?
Which of the qualities within the beatitudes (such as humility, meekness, mercy, purity of heart, and peacemaking) are you exhibiting? How are you demonstrating those values in your everyday walk? How can you apply them to your educational journey? Who is in your outer circle (those who might still be considering their faith) that you can influence?
