Assignment - Strategic HR Plan
For the final of this course, each student will conduct an analysis of an organization they previously, currently, or potentially would like to work for. The analysis should demonstrate the student's understanding of the content learned in this course. The analysis should include an executive summary of the organization, including the number of employees, locations, the organization's structure, a description of the culture of the organization, and standards for the industry. The goal of this analysis is to diagnose HR needs, expectations, and objectives and design an HR program and/or system to improve organizational effectiveness.
Details:
You were just hired as a new employee at an organization you have been wanting to work for. On your first day, your supervisor has indicated that one of the first projects they want you to work on is to develop a strategic HR plan and present it to the team. The goal for this project is that you take in the organization for the first couple of weeks, conduct research on the organization, and, with fresh eyes, present your observations and ideas to the team after your first month at the organization.
This plan should include:
An Executive Summary
Organization - In the organization section, you will include the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of the organization. Based on your research, you should also include your interpretation of the culture based on your first month of being at the organization. The reason for this, is so you can refer back to this as supporting information as to why you have proposed what you have in your plan. Please also include a rough estimate of the number of employees, the organizational chart, a brief summary of the leadership team, and a financial summary of the organization. *Be sure to cite your sources and format in APA.
Industry Trends - When developing a plan for an organization, it is important to conduct research on the trends of the industry and what competition is doing. What makes the proposed items in your plan worth implementing? How is this organization doing in comparison to the competition?
Organizational Strategies - In this section, you will include the strategies for the organization based on your research in Section 2. Based on those strategies, what are or should be the HR strategies for the organization? In this section, you should include four to six HR strategies. These strategies should be unique to the organization based on your initial research.
Proposed Plan - What is your proposed plan? How are you accomplishing the HR strategies? What are the objectives? Include examples. For example, if one of your objectives is to add a team member, what is the job description? What are their responsibilities? If you are to improve employee morale, what is your plan? How do you plan on improving morale, and what research supports why you are proposing that plan?
