We have studied US history from the 1890s through the early 2000s. In the lectures two themes have been stressed.

(1) the rise of the United States to become the sole global superpower and (2) the struggle to increase the civil rights of all citizens.

Think about how and why the United States increased its global power from 1890-2010. Think about how and why Blacks, women, and the LGBQ+ community sought - and succeeded (at least in part) -- to expand their civil rights in the same time period.
