Question: 1. What are the sources of emotions and moods? How are emotions different from moods?
Reply to discussion below :
(The sources for emotions and moods (pg.111) are: Personality, Day of the week, Weather, Stress, Social Activities, Sleep, Exercise, Age and Gender. Emotions and moods are affects that people experience, to my surprise this two are similar but not the same I was under the impression that moods were brief however this is not the case. Emotions (pg.111) are intense, discrete, and brief in durations they are also caused by specif events. Moods (pg.111) are longer-lived, less intense than emotions and often arise due to general or unclear motives and cognitive in nature.)

1. Discuss the alternative, positive group think. Seek outside resources if needed.
2. In your opinion, is consensus a good way for groups to make decisions? Why or why not?

(1. Positive groupthink is the reason why humans form groups in the first place. Bringing together a group of people for a brainstorming (pg 336, 17ed) is one of the most helpful steps in idea generation, and problem solving. Understanding when the group dynamic shifts from rational, objective, and productive, to damaging groupthink (pg335) is key for managers. Teams can avoid groupthink by designating a "devil's advocate" and encouraging or requiring input from all members before a decision is finalized.
2. I think establishing group consensus before taking action is key in group success. If an individual group member is not committed to the decision, they may not be contributing their full talent, and could potentially participate in deviant workplace behavior (pg326). Finding good compromises, and establishing a plan that all members agree upon will help keep the group strong and capable.)
