I will conduct interviews with two participants-a 20-year-old classmate and my 68-year-old grandma-are intended to analyze potential pronunciation differences stemming from participants' diverse geographic backgrounds. The idea proposes that small differences in pronunciation, especially in the older participant, may be caused by alterations in the age-related vocal mechanism.

This study contributes to the understanding of linguistic variation by investigating the complex connections between age and accent on the pronunciation of African Americans. The realization of the /i/ and /I/ sounds in Mississippi African American speakers is the main subject of the study. Age and geographic background are two things that are thought to affect pronunciation. The goal of the study is to advance the knowledge of how African American speakers' accents and ages impact their pronunciation. The two participants will be interviewed as part of my research, and their pronunciations of particular terms will be examined.
