International Strategic Management (2015-2016, Full Year) (University Main Campus)
Assignment
Academic Essay
Learning Outcomes
This assignment addresses the following learning outcomes ;-
- Evaluate an international company's competitive position and resources and competences
- Assess issues and difficulties faced by international companies in implementing and evaluating strategies
Topic:
The stakeholder view of how a business should be managed may sound ethically attractive but could be too simplistic. However, the shareholder view, consistent with driving for profit, seems to make more sense, especially in the light of requiring investment. In fact without a business having a healthy profit motive, investors could be less keen to invest and this might affect satisfying the demands of an organisation's diverse set of stakeholders.
Critically evaluate this argument, using organisational examples to support your discussion.
Format:
Essay format, 2500 words (+/- 10%)
Guidelines:
1. The essay should be typed using double or 1.5 spacing, contain a header with author name and module code, numbered pages and be appropriately presented for 3rd year work.
2. The essay should be structured with an introduction, main section and conclusion, but not use sub- headings. Diagrams or tables may be used in the text, appropriately referenced. Longer tables/data should be added as an appendix.
3. The essay should be properly referenced in the text and with a Reference list at the end of the work (LBS standard referencing should be used).
4. Quotations should be brief, and appropriately marked and referenced (author, work, date and page number). Any longer than one sentence should be indented (1cm from each of the left and right hand margins).
5. Heavy reliance on a limited range of source material, badly referenced work, or heavy reliance on quotations, will be considered poor scholarship and penalised.
