Hospitality Business Management Managing Housekeeping Operations

Task

You have just been hired as assistant executive housekeeper of the 600-room Cactus Resort in the Southwest. The section housekeeper workload per shift is 14 rooms and the average number of hours worked is eight hours. Your immediate boss, Mr. Brown, has been asked by the G.M. to provide information on the housekeeping department as follows:

1. The number of Housekeepers needed when the hotel is at 100% occupancy, as well as the number of staff required for the laundry at 100% occupancy.
2. Mr. Brown has decided that placing the workers in teams and assigning them to blocks is beneficial. As such he has asked you to determine how many teams will be required including relief teams to facilitate day off of workers.
3. The cost of labor for the for the upcoming month of November. The occupancy percent for the hotel has been estimated at 88 percent. Mr. Brown entrusts you with the job of working out the cost for the section housekeepers, laundry and houseman needed to clean the guestrooms in November informing you that the average line staff hourly wage next month is $12.50 per hour worked.

Noted: Laundry requires one team consists of washer attendant, dryers, folders 4-6 staff.
