Homicide rates in the Peircetown, Pennsylvania are quite high, and seem to be increasing at a rate that is worrisome. Experts find that homicide rates often reflect the state of the economy (meaning that homicide rates increase when the economy is suffering). In fact, it is true that the economy is quite poor in Peircetown, Pennsylvania.
Even with their economic concerns, Peircetown must spend millions of dollars every year to send emergency response teams to the scene of a homicide, to provide medical care in hopes of saving the victim, to investigate the crimes, and to support the families of the victims. It is money that Peircetown cannot afford to spend anymore. The homicide problem is not only very sad, but expensive to address.
In local community meetings, members of this community have been advocating for better gun control laws. The mayor disagrees that gun control would solve the problem of homicide because he believes that people will still find a way to get guns, even if it is illegal. The mayor also receives campaign funding from an organization called “Pennsylvanians for Gun Rights”, so he is unlikely to support any law that restricts a citizen’s access to guns.
