Question

Home remedies are often unproven treatment options passed down from person to person by word of mouth and now on social media. Many patients rely on these inexpensive remedies that are readily available in most homes to help them feel better. However, some of these treatments may have dangerous side effects. As advanced practice providers delivering whole person care, we must be prepared to objectively evaluate the potential benefits of a remedy, identify any potential harm it may cause the public, while still offering culturally sensitive care that aligns with the values and goals of our patient. The goal of this assignment is for students to use their knowledge of normal physiology and pathophysiology to perform a comprehensive review of a selected home remedy.
