What are your views on holiday staffing challenges and the demands of the business that employees work during the holidays? Why isn't time-and-a-half pay the motivation employees need? Some Kmart employees say they are not permitted to request time off on holidays and will be fired if they do not report to work on those days. Others say this is not true. What if the employee becomes ill or has problems with childcare? If you were an HR manager at a Kmart store, how would you motivate and assign staff for a holiday schedule? How would you assign them for McDonald's? Do you believe McDonald's increase in pay will entice employees to be more motivated to work a holiday schedule? What about McDonald's franchise employees?
