Question: Every excellent research study needs to be accurate and reliable; the concepts we use and the technique we use to get to our conclusions is what reliability and validity are composed of. While hypotheses are great for coming up with different solutions and ideas, we cannot base a study or clinical-based research on those ideas alone; we need proof that they will help us advance in our field. Suppose we need to test how well a patient is going to do on a medication. In that case, we cannot have reliability or validity of our doses, type of medication, or test subjects are not all correctly screened, comparable, or honest in their feedback.
Assume we created a new vaccine for a disease that began to spread like rapid fire worldwide, a pandemic if you will. While some would be skeptical of a new vaccine that has had no time to be tested or trialed correctly, they would be in such a panic stirred up by this virus that many would stop questioning it and taking it. While some may be safe from the virus, this was never adequately tested with accurate or reliable subjects. We became the guinea pigs in something that eventually came to light to be invalid and unreliable, in return killing and injuring many individuals. We should always base our research on valid and reliable sources as well as hold our studies to the same standards.
