Topic background:
Standard precautions and infection prevention and control strategies include hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, cleaning, and appropriate handling and disposal of sharps. These strategies are a first-line approach to infection prevention and control in health service organisations and are routinely applied to clinical practice to minimise the spread of infections (National Health and Medical Research Council [NHMRC] 2019).
Assignment question:
Are alcohol-based hand sanitisers as effective as handwashing in preventing spread of infection in the acute hospital setting?
Instructions for this assessment task:
Using the template provided:
1. Develop a search strategy to locate articles relevant to the assignment question.
2. Conduct a search of the literature by applying your search strategy to relevant databases.
3. Choose three (3) peer-reviewed research articles that answer the assignment question.
4. Summarise the main points of the identified articles including the purpose/aim of the study, research design, methods, and key findings.
5. Provide a reference list using APA7 referencing style
6. Provide a copy/screenshot of the abstract for your three (3) articles at the bottom of the template.
