This is a 60-year-old man with a past history of prostate cancer and hernia repair (twice) who comes in reporting abdominal pain since yesterday at 3 PM. It began on the left side, more in the lower quadrants, and did not radiate. The pain felt different from prior pain resulting from kidney stones. He has not felt like eating; he has been nauseous and has thrown up. Last night, he could not sleep, and it hurt if he tossed and turned. This morning, he had fever and chills and came to the ED.
