He reports that his cough does not seem to be settling down and that he is now expectorating some 'thick green phlegm'. He denies hemoptysis. On examination, he is alert and oriented, his temperature is 37.6°C, his pulse rate is 94 bpm regular, respiratory rate is 16, blood pressure is 124/68 mmHg. Chest auscultation reveals left lower zone coarse crepitations with some bronchial breath sounds. What is the MOST appropriate management strategy? A.
