HISTORY OF PRESENT ILLNESS: The patient is an elderly female seen in the office 2 days prior to admission. She was experiencing increased shortness of breath. The SOB was handled with increased rescue inhaler and patient was admitted when symptoms worsened despite home treatment. Patient called EMS as she was getting anxious and felt her breathing was worse. She presented at the hospital with acute shortness of breath, hypertension, found to be in acute exacerbation of COPD. Upon admission she had some mid scapular chest discomfort, but no chest pain. EKG in the ER displayed sinus tachycardia but no sign of a cardiac event.
