Question

Patient is a 78-year-old female with a history of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Three days ago, she was admitted to the hospital after tripping over her dog and falling at home. Admitting diagnosis: femur fracture. Fracture was surgically repaired on Day 2 of hospital stay. She is currently confined to bed. Patient has been NPO since hospital admission; however, MD has ordered patient to begin clear liquids this AM. Medications include Furosemide 80 mg daily, Lipitor 80 mg daily and Lisinopril 30 mg daily.
