Mr. Droopy is a 61-year old male admitted to your medicine unit for a left-sided ischemic stroke. He has a history of high blood pressure (190/110 on admission). He was given tPA in the ER yesterday, which resolved some of his neurologic symptoms. He continues to have slurred speech and a left sided facial droop. It is now the next day and he has had a CT scan which showed no intracranial bleeding. He is to start on a heparin drip today--he has just finished his initial bolus and now needs the continuous infusion set up. He is receiving intermittent IV metoprolol to control his BP.
