A book review is NOT a summary of the book. Rather, it is a well thought out, well-formulated examination of the thesis and themes in the text.
Paragraph 1: Introduction. What is the author's thesis? What themes are apparent through the reading of the text?
Next 3-4 paragraphs: provide support for the thesis.
Next paragraph: What sources did the author use? Were primary and secondary sources used? What are some examples?
Last: conclusion. Was the author/historian SUCCESSFUL in supporting or proving their thesis?
