Where you have been unable to demonstrate performance of any elements in your industry placement

An important element of assessing this qualification is consistency of performance. Students are required to undertake 2 tasks times to ensure that they are able to repeat satisfactory performance. Please note there are activities in each of the units so that the supervisor and assessor can record dates of satisfactory performance. How does this work? 1. Write name of activity in Comments Column 2. Initial to confirm that these have been undertaken. The sighting of tasks can include a combination of Supervisor and Assessor or can be sighted by the same person three times. Assessor to validate with Supervisor if supervisor sights three times. Assessor to keep record of visit and satisfactory performance in Industry Visit Book.

Assessment 3 Write 400 words on the impact of colonisation, historical events and issues on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. (Please speak to your Assessor if you need assistance in regard to the length of the assessment. Assessor is looking for about a paragraph on each topic area) Assessment 4 You will need to access the service’s policies and procedures to undertake this assessment. List organisational policies and procedures linked to support participation.

Assessment 2 In your plan, you have had to read and review National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards and learning framework (e.g. EYLF). Discuss the following: • How did you review these documents? • How did you decide on the relevant areas of each of the above? • Where did you locate these documents?

Assessment 1 Write 200 words reflection on your cultural identity and biases that you have. Remember: all people have their own cultural identity and it is important to acknowledge any bias that you may have. Your assessment will not be judged on biases but it about an honest reflection of your own identity and biases.

The evidence you need to provide for an assessment of competence in this unit will be based on, but not limited to: • Successful completion of assessment • Verbal discussion and questioning by assessor • Mentor / supervisor / workplace coach verification of skills • Any other evidence you or your assessor have gathered • Any other activities your assessor considers necessary You are required to submit your work in a neat, orderly, detailed and organised manner. Use source references in all your work.

1. Complete all the assessment tasks in the unit. 2. You can type your answers or neatly handwrite and attach it to the assessment booklet. 3. Have your supervisor sign the Skills Assessment that you can undertake these tasks and skills in the workplace (must be undertaken in regulated education and care service). 4. Complete the Assessment Cover Sheet and sign all sections. Check the marking guide to ensure you have covered all elements of the assessment. The marking guide is used by the assessor to mark your competency.

In order to be assessed as competent (C), you will need to provide evidence which demonstrates that you have the essential knowledge and skills to successfully complete this unit to the required standard. Competency is simply being able to demonstrate that you can do the task, not just once, but with confidence, repeatedly. Please read the beginning of this unit, it will tell you about the elements and the performance criteria you will be assessed against. It will also inform you of the knowledge and skills you require to successfully complete the unit. If you can already demonstrate that you can undertake these skills you should talk to your trainer.
