‘Meetings and Events Hire' is an events hire business operating in Melbourne for the last fifteen (15) years.

The primary business function is the hire of events staging and other events management systems and equipment to both large and small events management businesses.

The business employs the following people:

• 80 Warehouse staff
• 20 Technical staff
• 20 Support office staff for administration, sales, finance, human resources, purchasing and innovation strategies

Strategic Goal: ‘To become the number one events hire contractor in Melbourne within five years.'

You are asked to complete the following:

You are to prepare an action plan in report form and address the following:

1. Prepare an idea or concept that exhibits creative thinking and offers the possibility of benefiting Meetings and Events Hire. This should be done via undertaking an environmental scan of current developments in innovation in the meetings and events hire industry along with your own ideas on what can be beneficial for the company Please ensure that you thoroughly document the processes of your research, individual and shared ideas and the reasons for your innovation choice.

2. Describe how options for continuous improvement and innovation can be developed through the following:

• How you intend to foster creativity and learning by promoting interaction within and between work groups
• How you will incorporate performance improvement strategies and innovation as an essential element of competitive advantage for the firm

• Encourage, test and recognise new ideas and also entrepreneurial behaviour within the firm.
