Elizabeth recently applied for a job at St. John Catholic School. The school refused to hire Elizabeth because she is Muslim. Elizabeth tells the school that she is filing a discrimination claim against them because she is highly qualified for the position. The school tells her that 50% of the school's funding comes from one of the most powerful Catholic churches in the state, and if they knew that the school hired someone of the Muslim faith to work at the school, they would lose some of their funding because the school was founded in hopes of spreading the word about Catholicism. Based on these facts, what is the best defense that the school has for not hiring Elizabeth? Briefly explain your answer.
